URGENT at SAN BERNARDINO, CA ( S CAL)- SAN BERNARDINO CITY SHELTER - ID #A596230, 'TOMMY' - young adult, 22 lb young chow mix, - NEEDS LOVING HOME OR FOSTER AND RESCUE- who can help? This dear little 22 lb chow mix (yes, his tongue is mostly black) was found in Rialto, believed to be originally hit by a car with signs of abrasions. Thankfully, the shelter told us on 7/31, 'Our medical staff was able to remove the IV catheter bandage today and he is bright, alert and responsive and walking well on all four feet. His medical deadline was removed and he will be available for public adoption or rescue tomorrow once his stray wait is completed.' Prior to this, he was listed as Rescue only and on a 8/1 deadline. Tommy was also 'taken to the emergency veterinary hospital for treatment. He is currently being monitored in our separate receiving area since he just returned from the emergency vet. At this time, he cannot be dog tested or kenneled with other dogs while he recovers.' Medical notes stated, 'assessment: soft tissue trauma; diagnostics: radiographs: no visible fractures or luxations; treatments: 0.25 ml butorphanol/0.25 ml dexdomator IM for pain control and sedation'. He is now doing so much better though. We are naming him Tommy and he is estimated at 3 years young, and still friendly despite what he has been through. The shelter described him as 'friendly'. We are looking for both a loving, forever home, or a foster and rescue now as rescues likely need a foster to save. For adoptions, please contact the shelter directly at (909) 998-4000 and provide his ID. listing link: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/SBCT/A596230 Since most rescue groups do need a foster and place to go, though, if you are interested in fostering, or foster to adopt, please contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist with his placement, and we can try to pair you with a rescue to help or foster or adopt through. Rescues should contact San Bernardino City Animal Control at (909) 998-4000 and also by email: [email protected] asap and note the ID.
