Medina, Ohio (willing to drive up to 100 miles). 6 Y/O MALE Long-Haired GSD (DOB: 2/15/20). His name is 'Dante.' Background: Current Shepherd Parent has had Dante since he was weaned from a breeder. UTD on shots WITH record. Fixed. Good with kids. Dante currently lives with children ages 4 and 5, but a calmer home would be best for him. Good with dogs. Dante does well with other dogs, although he is naturally protective of his property and has chased unfamiliar dogs away from his yard. Good with cats?: Unknown. House trained. NOT Crate trained. Dante has always free roamed the home. He does experience separation anxiety but is not destructive when left alone. Any known medical issues?: Seasonal allergies. He takes Apoquel. Abuse/Neglect/Trauma History?: None disclosed. ENERGY LEVEL: Medium. PREY DRIVE LEVEL: Low. Weighs 96 lbs. Currently on Purina Dry Dog Food. Good with car rides?: Yes. Socialized with: People?: Yes. Dogs?: Yes. Good with meeting new people? (ALWAYS USE PROPER INTRODUCTION!): Yes. Loves: Toys, beef treats, playing, running, cuddling, walks, relaxing on the couch, playing with kids and other dogs, balls, playing fetch, sleeping in bed with his person, being close to his family, rope toys, and chew toys. Intelligent and knows Basic Commands?: This breed is super intelligent. Good Recall? (ALWAYS RETRAIN BEFORE ALLOWING OFF LEASH): Yes. Good on a Leash?: Yes. Lovable?: This breed is super lovable once they claim you as their person/family. Eager and fast learner?: This breed is super fast learners when they are being committed to and worked with. Bite History?: Yes. There was one minor incident involving the Current Shepherd Parent's 7 y/o granddaughter. She entered Dante's safe space and startled him while he was resting. She got on his back and wrapped her arms around his neck, and he reacted by biting her. The incident was reported, Dante completed the required process, and the case has been cleared. This occurred when he was startled while relaxing in what he considered his safe area. I would also label this as kids not respecting boundaries and the Shepherds suffering the consequences because of it. NOTES FROM CURRENT SHEPHERD PARENT: 'Dante loves to play and once he bonds with somebody that is his person and he will follow them and be their best friend.. Truly a good dog.' Re Homing because�'�|: The Current Shepherd Parent has 11 grandchildren, and while Dante has lived successfully with children, the busy environment has become overwhelming for him, and they do not want to risk another incident. They believe he deserves a calmer, quieter home where he can relax, feel secure, and truly thrive. Dante is truly a good dog who simply needs an environment that better matches his personality. Will thrive best�'�|?: In a loving home with no young children, or preferably no children at all, where he can enjoy a quieter lifestyle. He would do best with someone who understands the importance of allowing him to have his own safe space and who will continue providing him with the love, routine, and companionship he enjoys.
