Meet Olga %A4 Some dogs wear their stories where everyone can see them. Olga is one of those dogs. At around 8 years old, this beautiful Cane Corso has lived a life that was anything but kind. When our Animal Control Officer brought her into our care, her feet were badly scalded from walking on hot pavement, making every step painful. Her face, legs, and chest are covered in scars that tell the story of years spent being bullied by other dogs. She had a severe cherry eye(which we had corrected) and it's clear she spent much of her life producing litter after litter of puppies. Despite everything she's endured, Olga has never shown aggression toward our staff or the other dogs in our care. Like many Cane Corsos, Olga is naturally reserved and doesn't hand out her trust freely. When she meets someone new, she'll let you know she's unsure with a deep bark and a watchful eye. She's not looking for conflict-she's simply protecting herself the only way she knows how. But if you're patient... if you earn her trust... you'll discover the sweetest soul. The tough exterior melts away, and Olga practically melts into the ground, rolling over for belly rubs. When you reach out to pet her, she instinctively ducks her head and lowers her body, a heartbreaking reminder that gentle hands have been few and far between in her life. Watching her slowly learn that kindness is real has been one of the greatest privileges for our staff. Here at the shelter, Olga has spent her days alongside Haley and our two rambunctious puppies, Spud and Baked Bean. She has done well with them and has shown us that she can peacefully coexist with other respectful dogs. Because of her breed, her history, and her unique needs, Olga will only be placed in an approved home. We believe she would thrive in a quiet home with a single person or experienced owner who will give her the time and patience she needs to feel safe. A calm canine companion who will be kind and respectful could also be a wonderful match. She needs someone willing to show her what love feels like for the rest of her life. If you think you could be the person to give this deserving senior girl the happy ending she's waited eight long years for, we'd love to hear from you.
