About Murphy

Old English Sheepdog / Poodle
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

I have a 5 year old standard Sheepadoodle (poodle-old english sheepdog) who I have been trying for years to keep. I am in desperate need of finding a rescue that will keep him as opposed to behavioral euthanasia. His name is Murphy Great things about Murphy: Neutered, up to date on all shots, always on heartworm prevention and very healthy. He had been groomed since was 12 weeks old without any issues. He goes to dog daycare without any issues. He has been to a board and train, knows commands, house trained, crate trained, get along decently with other animals (except food/treat time- we separate) He loves to play, has been around cats his entire life, and is very loyal to his one person. Not so great things: He has a natural herding instinct and will circle and nudge animals with his mouth. Cats don't like this and it has been an issue with people who visit. He had reactivity to certain places (his crate, the car, and some stranger reactivity- all in the house) he does great when meeting people outside. He reacts to hats, hoodies, and big hair (barks and growls and knows to go to his crate) He has severe separation anxiety. Will pace non stop, chew his feet, pee on the steps outside while looking inside the back door to see me) He has bitten my daughter while cosleeping and she rolled over on him He bit one of my son's friends when they were wrestling in the living room. He has been on multiple medications for anxiety and reactivity. He needs to be in a field, with sheep, or other animals to keep him active and lessen his anxiety. I don't have that option in Florida and that was my mistake with not researching this breed. He was an impulse decision based on puppies I saw that were living in terrible conditions, desperate for adoption. My issue now is I have a grandbaby. I do not trust Murphy around her. I can not have a dog that I can't have my grandbaby around. I was given an ultimatum by my son about Murphy. I took him to the vet again a few months ago to reassess any medication, training or recommendations and the vet literally suggested behavioral euthanasia. I can't imagine that is my only option so I am reaching out to ANY rescue that may potentially help me. I am willing to transport him anywhere on the side of the US. I will provide a donation for anything that will help with his cost of care and am desperate to find a solution. Thank you
