About Penny

This is Penny. She is a 6 year old INDOOR tabby cat. She needs a quiet home with no kids or other animals and no noise. Ideal for a single person or a quiet couple. We found Penny in 2020 when she was a few weeks old living in the gutter outside. We brought her inside and she's been our indoor cat ever since. She is very lovey and likes to be with you especially at bedtime. She likes to snuggle in bed, wants LOTS of pets and purs her little heart out. She doesn't like to be picked up or held though. Penny has never liked noise and new people visiting can stress her out, she avoids kids too. She's always been a good cat, doesn't scratch furniture or jump on counters and is litter box trained. A few years after having Penny, we adopted another cat and Penny didn't love this but she adapted�'�| the cats mostly ignore each other. They never fought, they share food and liter and just overall kind of pretend the other doesn't exist otherwise. We've had two cats for 4 years now. ------ now the reason that we are trying to find Penny a new home. Recently we were out of the house the entire day and we came home and something was wrong with the cats. They were both acting weird, hissing and being mad at each other and at us. We thought it was strange and had no clue what had happened�'�|. later that night they literally tried to kill each other. We tried to break it up then both cats got mad at us and they were both hissing with their fur raised and growling. We took the cats to the vet and the vet said they didn't see anything obviously wrong and both were healthy and fine. Got an updated rabies shot while we were there. We took the advice of the vet to try to reintroduce them like they were strangers and it worked for a while, and kind of works off and on. We have times of peacefully coexisting but then randomly, they will start trying to fight to the death again. It's very scary and there's little we can do to get in the middle of it. Penny now mostly has to stay on our screened in porch because we have to keep the cats apart. That's not ideal because it's so hot and soon will be too cold. We rotate rooms that they have to be locked up in throughout the day. It is stressful for everyone in the house including both cats. We have no idea what happened to cause the fighting and as it's been months of this, I don't know what to do at this point other than to try to rehome Penny. Whenever her and my other cat start to fight, Penny will run through the entire house peeing and pooping and it's become a big ordeal of cleaning. As long as she's not near the other cat, she's her normal self. She's a good cat but would need some patience to get her used to a new home and would need a quiet home. Please give Penny a new home and a chance!
