About Patches

Patches is a 2 & 1/2 year old, 60lb, neutered Australian Shepherd. Sadly, Patches owner recently passed away. Patches is a sweet, energetic, playful, loving dog who is house trained, rides well in the car and is up-to-date on all vaccinations. He likes to think he's a lap dog and will crawl up for a cuddle. He's been groomed and boarded regularly and gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes after a proper introduction. He does not like cats. We've been working with Patches on loose leash walking and he's doing great! Patches needs training when it comes to jumping excitedly and barking when visitors arrive. For that reason, we will not place him with a family with small children for fear he would knock them over. He also needs to have his toys and bones traded rather than taken away. When home alone during the day, he lays on the couch or his dog bed and at night he prefers to sleep in bed with his human. He was crate trained as a puppy, but hasn't used one recently. Ideally, Patches' forever home will be one with another dog he can play with and someone who will provide additional training and take him on adventures.
