STAR, A GENTLE SOUL READY TO SHINE. Upland Animal Shelter, Upland, CA. Animal ID: IEPA-A-16637. Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix. Age: 3 years, 6 months. Weight: 37 lbs. Sex: Female (Spayed). Location: Foster Home. Intake Date: January 2, 2025. STAR ISN'T JUST HER NAME, IT'S HER WHOLE VIBE. Star is a beautiful 3-year-old Pit Bull Terrier with a heart as big as her smile and a personality that quietly wins you over. She's the kind of dog who doesn't demand the spotlight... but somehow ends up being the best part of your day anyway. Star has the most adorable way of greeting the people she loves, with wiggles, spins, and little bunny hops that make it impossible not to smile. But underneath that playful, goofy side is a wonderfully calm and easygoing companion who knows how to settle down and simply enjoy being near her people. And there is something important to understand about Star: She likes to take a little time getting to know new people. She isn't necessarily going to give her whole heart away in the first five minutes. Give her a little patience and the opportunity to feel safe, and you'll discover an incredibly sweet, affectionate and loyal girl who loves being close to the people she trusts. That little bit of patience in the beginning is all it takes to see what a wonderful companion Star truly is. A DREAM ROOMMATE IN FOSTER CARE. Star is currently thriving in a foster home, where her family, who also volunteers at the shelter, has gotten to know the dog she really is outside the kennel environment. And apparently, Star has this whole being-a-good-roommate thing figured out. She is house-trained with a routine, crate-trained, and settles beautifully at home. Give her some soft, squeaky toys and she's perfectly content entertaining herself. She walks well on leash, knows 'sit,' and is highly treat motivated, giving her a wonderful foundation for continued training. And when playtime is over? Star is an affectionate little 37-pound lap dog who loves being close to her people. THE HOME STAR IS LOOKING FOR. Star forms deep bonds with her humans and would love a home where she can finally belong. She needs to be the only dog in the home, where she can relax and enjoy all the love and attention for herself.A home with older kids (13+) would be the best fit for her. Her ideal person doesn't need to be extraordinary. Just someone willing to give her a little time at the beginning. Someone who appreciates a dog who can be playful and silly one moment and peacefully curled up beside them the next. Someone who understands that some of the strongest bonds aren't instantaneous, they grow through trust. MAYBE IT'S FINALLY STAR'S TURN. Star entered the shelter system on January 2, 2025. That means this sweet girl has been waiting more than a year and a half for the one thing every shelter dog deserves: a home of her own. She has already shown everyone who knows her what she has to offer, loyalty, affection, laughter, companionship, and those ridiculous little bunny-hop greetings. Now she just needs someone to see her. If you're looking for a loyal, low-key best friend who will eventually greet you like you are the best thing in the entire world, give Star the chance to get to know you. You may discover that the little dog who needed some time to trust you... was simply waiting to know that this time, she was finally home. STAR AT A GLANCE: Affectionate & loyal. Lap dog. Submissive. House-trained. Crate-trained. Walks well on leash. Knows 'sit'. Treat motivated. Best with kids 13+. Must be the only dog in the home.
