About Buddy

Looking for Buddy's Forever Home - Monterey, TN We rescued Buddy in February 2026 off the busy highway right in front of our house. He came to us dirty, hungry, and healing from a scuffle with another animal. We took him in, had him neutered, up to date on shots, and on flea meds. He's been loved and safe with us ever since. About Buddy: ��%BD'� Age: We think ��%BD��%BD%BC1-2 years old. He's still very much a puppy at heart ��%BD'� Breed: Very Smart German Shepherd mix - about 70 lbs of muscle and love ��%BD'� Personality: Loyal, affectionate, and a wonderful guard dog. He has to get pets and love before he eats..he is the 'love first, then food' dog..the guard dog who takes his job seriously but still needs a hug before dinner. That's not a shelter dog - that's a 'best friend' dog. We don't want him in an animal shelter or stressed. ��%BD'� Energy: High! He's fast, can jump really high, focused, and loves to run. He needs a fenced yard, NO CATS, and an active owner with time for obedience training. ��%BD'� The good stuff: We think he was a house-trained dog before we found him, he rides well in the truck, he bonds quickly and deeply, and thrives on affection. He's a total love bug.��%BD����%BDHe loves being with you. What Buddy needs: A forever home with people who are active and have time for walks, play, and cuddles. A fenced yard is definitely needed. He would thrive with a farm situation, as a search and rescue dog, or with someone who hikes. He definitely isn't suited for apartment living, but needs to live inside with his family. He's not a shelter dog and we want to place him directly with the right situation so he never has to be placed in an animal shelter. We love this sweet boy and wish we could keep up with him forever, but we know he deserves someone who can match his energy. Unfortunately, we are both in our seventies. We laugh daily at his crazy antics. If you or someone you know is looking for a smart, devoted, goofy protector with a heart of gold, Buddy might just be YOURS.
