Cade is seriously in need of a new home! He is such a good fella and truly deserves a great home. Unfortunately I am allergic to him: He gives me headaches and causes me to get blood in my nose. All we want is for him to be safe, healthy, and happy. He was very abused before showing up as a stray at our house. We did not go looking for a new dog. I found him outside trying to get to the turkey fryer pot. As I do with all strays, I took him to the vet the next day. We already had 2 dogs and I won't take a chance on them getting something. The vet said he was about 6 months old, was over 20 lbs under weight. We got him his shots. I started trying to find his owner thinking that the reason he was in such bad shape was because he was probably taken out hog hunting, got away from the pack, and ended up lost in the woods for days before finding his way to our house (we live out in the country surrounded by miles of woods). After trying to find his owner, all I got was people wanting a free hog dog. No one could even tell me how old he was. My hubby said we could keep him as a yard dog. Our other 2 are house dogs. I took Cade back to the vet, had him neutered, and his bloody tail tip checked. The vet said his tail would probably have to be amputated because when they wag their tails, it pushes the blood flow and makes it hard to heal. This sweet fella let me medicate his tail and put a band aid on it every night. Every morning the band aid would still be in place. His tail eventually healed and now you can't tell it ever had a problem. I noticed he had what looked like small polka dot hair discolorations on his hips. I assumed he had been shot with a shotgun. Back to the vet we went, I wanted x-rays. I also wanted a thorough exam done. Turned out he had been shot but not in the hips. The vet said the x-rays showed a belly full of pellets z The vet also said he had 5 teeth broken off at the gum line and was heart worm positive. The vet pulled the broken teeth and we had him treated for heart worms. He was only about 6 months old at the time Poor fella was absolutely terrified of all men. If a man was here, he would literally pace the fence line the entire time they were here and wouldn't come on the porch. (we have 1.5 acres fenced around our house). It's been 4 years now and he is better with my husband and now comes up to some of our men friends when they visit. He will come on the porch if I am outside with him, and if my hubby sits down, he will let him pet him. Cade is so gentle with women and kids. I have potted plants all over the porch. I decorate for all the holidays. Cade does not mess with any of my stuff. Is he perfect, nope. He will kill and eat wild rabbits.. He is afraid of thunder and gun shots, but if I let him inside, he calmly lays down and is fine. He loves to chew on dog toys. He loves to play keep away and rough house with our AussieDoodle. He's gentle with our old pit. He needs to be on a leash when walked and have a fenced yard. He really needs a home; deserves a home, where he can be loved and one of the family. Not just a yard dog who watches the other dogs go in and out of the house while he's left outside. I've noticed that he seems to be getting depressed and doesn't get up every time I go outside anymore. I feel so bad for him. I can't change my allergies and they seem to get worse every time I try to bring him in. It is why we have an AussieDoodle. I'm trying to do what is best for my health and for Cade. Please let anyone you know that loves dogs and is kind/gentle know. He truly deserves a good home. I am willing to drive him almost anywhere. Sincerely asking for help for this sweet fella
