His owner describes him as 'a great snuggly dog who just wants to sleep on his human's lap or by their feet.' He also has a wonderfully playful side - Paulu LOVES playing with the garden hose! Give this boy some water to chase and he is ready to have some fun. Paulu is an indoor dog who has had the run of the house and is reported to be housebroken and leash trained. He knows sit, lay down, and come and is described as outgoing and good with adults. Paulu has cataracts and is partially blind, but he continues to enjoy affection, playtime, and being involved in his person's day. Paulu's Dream Home More than anything, Paulu wants to be close to his person. Because he struggles with separation anxiety, a remote worker or someone who spends a lot of time at home could be an especially wonderful match for him. He would love having a person nearby while he naps at their feet, hangs out around the house, and enjoys some garden-hose playtime outside. Paulu has been having difficulty adjusting to changes within his current family and struggles with separation anxiety and resource guarding. He has become especially attached to his person and can compete with the family's other dog for access to his owner and other things he considers valuable. For this reason, Paulu is looking for a home where he can be the only pet and soak up all that attention himself. His owner reports that Paulu may guard high-value treats, preferred resting spots near his person, and even interesting smells in the yard. He does not guard his regular kibble and currently free-feeds. Paulu has gotten into fights with the other dog in his current home related to resource guarding. He has never bitten a human, and his owner reports that he has not broken the other dog's skin. However, because these conflicts have been escalating, he needs a home without other pets. For everyone's comfort and safety, a home with children over age 6 would be the best fit.
