About Kala

Kala's story is one that will stick with you. Kala was found in Southern California, abandoned and chained to a tree. The chain-link collar was embedded in her neck so badly that when the ACO cut it off of her it left a severe laceration that required immediate medical care. The shelter that she was taken to assessed her wounds and since it was obvious noone was coming for her, she was listed for euthanasia within the 72 hour period that is normally used for a stray hold. Fortunately we saw her in time and after receiving medical care, she was brought here. Kala needs slow intros to humans and she has been around children and has been completely appropiate and respectful. However, considering her level of previous trauma and her occasional tendency to be initially reactive to new people, it would be the best fit to go to a home without young children. Kala is somehow still an incredibly affectionate and loving girl and I beleive that when she is reactive towards unknown people (which is not consistent, she is aways improving.) I think it is bc she is trying to protect and not lose the only human relationships that she has known. If Kala's story resonates with you and you think you might be her person, please reach out.
