Age: 4 years, 4 months. At the shelter since: March 4, 2026. If Hubert were standing in the middle of an Alaskan winter, you might have a hard time finding him. White coat. Pale, hypnotic eyes. Perfect snow camouflage. You might only see one thing: a dark nose appearing against all that white. And perhaps you'd hesitate before approaching. After all, who's behind that nose? A big white bear... or our gentle Mr. Hubert? Fortunately, it's Hubert. And behind that dramatic, beautiful Husky face is one of the friendliest, smartest, and most entertaining dogs you could hope to meet. One of the volunteers who advocates for him describes him perfectly: 'Hubert is special because he is so smart, alert, eager and friendly. And he has that dramatic Husky voice...' Yes, Hubert talks. He is a Husky, after all. He has opinions, and occasionally the world needs to hear them. Future Member of the Olympic Dog Fetching Team: If fetching ever becomes an Olympic event, Hubert would like to represent Team USA. This boy LOVES fetch. Throw the ball and Hubert races after it, brings it back, and, like a true gentleman, drops it right at your feet. Then he waits. Throw it again. And again. And again... Despite his enthusiasm, Hubert is a wonderfully gentle player. When the game is finally interrupted for a break, he happily switches sports: Belly rubs. Hubert is affectionate enough to consider himself a 62-pound lap dog, and human attention is definitely one of his favorite things. 'No Dramas Here. Peace and Love.' That could be Hubert's philosophy of life. On walks, Hubert does beautifully on leash. When other dogs appear, even dogs barking at him, he doesn't make a fuss. He looks at them and keeps walking as if to say: 'No dramas here. Peace and Love.' With proper introductions, we believe Hubert could do well living with another dog. He is social, friendly, and has shown us a wonderfully calm attitude around his canine neighbors. Hubert has not been tested with cats, and because he has a high prey drive, caution around cats and small animals is important. Could Hubert Be Your Family Dog? We believe Hubert has excellent potential with children. He has shown no food or toy possessiveness, takes part in play gently, and enjoys interacting with people. As always, appropriate supervision and respectful interactions between children and dogs are important. Despite his calm and affectionate personality, Hubert still has that youthful Husky spirit. He's playful, curious, intelligent, and would thrive with a family that enjoys walks, adventures, games, and spending time together. He already knows SIT, walks well on leash, and is treat motivated, smart, and eager to learn, a wonderful combination for continuing his training.
