She came into rescue after being surrendered by her owner, who had become overwhelmed by the number of cats in the home. When Ophelia first arrived in foster care, she was very scared and unsocialized, unsure of people and the world around her. For the past six months, her foster has patiently worked with her, showing her that people can be kind, gentle, and safe. One of her favorite things to do is curl up on your lap and fall asleep, enjoying the comfort and security of being close to someone she trusts. She absolutely loves the company of other cats and would thrive in a home where she can have a kitty companion to help her feel comfortable and confident. Because of her cautious nature, Ophelia can become startled if someone approaches her unexpectedly. If frightened, she may hiss-but this is simply her way of saying, 'You scared me!'
