About Brookyln

Adoption Fee: $500
Australian Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet Brooklyn: Brooklyn has officially made it to Wisconsin with Mutt Life Dog Rescue and is ready to find her forever family! Brooklyn is a 1.5-year-old, 40-pound Australian Shepherd/Retriever mix (best guess) who was originally found as a stray in Georgia. We still can't believe no one came looking for this sweet girl, because Brooklyn is truly a special dog. Since arriving in Wisconsin, Brooklyn has been doing wonderfully. She is potty trained and has had zero accidents since arriving. She is incredibly affectionate, loves giving kisses, and sometimes forgets that she is a 40-pound dog because she absolutely thinks she belongs in your lap. Brooklyn is a moderate-energy girl who enjoys walks, backyard sniffing, tug-of-war, and chewing on her favorite toys. She has been getting about 60-75 minutes of walks each day along with some backyard play and does well with that routine. She also knows sit and down and seems to enjoy learning new things, especially when cheese is involved! Brooklyn is still adjusting to her new environment and is learning different skills. She is still learning to walk nice on a leash and will need someone who can take the time and work with her. She is learning not to pull and about walking in a busy neighborhood with lots going on. She is also doing well learning crate training. She doesn't love going into her crate and may resist at first, but once she's in, she settles very quickly. She may bark for about 30 seconds and then settles down. She sleeps through the entire night in her crate with no issues. Brooklyn is a playful, young dog and her play style can be a little jumpy and mouthy. She loves tug of war and chewing on toys. Because of her size and playful nature, she would likely do best with older children or children who are comfortable around an active, playful dog. Overall, Brooklyn is a fantastic dog who is affectionate, smart, playful, and full of personality. Keep in mind, she has only been living in a home for a few days with this update, and will get better as she settles in and adjusts to living in a home. She is looking for a family who will continue helping her learn, give her structure and patience, and appreciate her goofy, loving nature.
