Incident #1: During a game night, several familiar guests were arriving at the home. One guest brought his approximately 11-year-old younger sister, whom Reno had never met. As she entered the home, Reno bit her on the ear, breaking the skin. She required hospital treatment and stitches. The bite was reported, Reno completed the required 10-day quarantine, and the case has been closed. Incident #2: The family's 3-year-old granddaughter, who Reno was unfamiliar with, attempted to hug him. Reno bit her on the cheek. No official action was taken following this incident. These incidents reinforce that Reno is not suitable for a home with children and needs careful management around unfamiliar people. NOTES FROM CURRENT SHEPHERD PARENT: 'Reno is a very good dog and very protective but he has to get acclimated to new people . He is very loving and loves to play and is very smart.' Re Homing because'|: Reno's person is no longer able to keep him due to changes in their living situation. Reno is currently living with the Current Shepherd Parent's mother, but it has become clear that he needs a home specifically suited to his behavioral needs. They want Reno to have the opportunity to thrive in a calm, structured environment where he can be successful and live safely. Will thrive best'|?: In a loving home with an experienced Shepherd parent who understands anxious, Reactive dogs and is committed to continuing his structure and routine. Reno needs a home with NO children, NO cats, and NO small animals. He should be allowed to free roam the home, as this is what he has always known, rather than being crated. Patience, proper introductions to visitors, and continued positive reinforcement will help him flourish. Comes with: Collar, leash, food, toys, and AKC registration papers. Rehoming Fee: $200.
