About Coco

Adoption Fee: $200
British Shorthair
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Coco is a 14-month-old purebred British Shorthair with a beautiful solid cinnamon coat a genuinely rare color for the breed. He's a stunning cat, and just as lovely in personality as he is to look at. We've had him since he was a kitten and he's grown into the sweetest, most affectionate cat. He loves belly rubs, cuddles up whenever he gets the chance, and truly loves company. He's not the type to disappear and do his own thing, he wants to be around his people. He's playful and full of energy, warms up to new people fast, and gets curious rather than scared around dogs and other cats, though he hasn't lived alongside other pets so we can't say for certain how he'd settle in. He also enjoys short walks on a leash for some outdoor time, but otherwise he's strictly an indoor cat. He's naturally a vocal cat and when he's uncomfortable, especially if he's constipated, he gets noticeably louder. Keeping his diet and litter routine consistent helps keep this in check. We're rehoming him because we're moving abroad to a country where the specialty food and vet care he needs aren't easy to access, and we'd rather find him a stable home now than put him through a move somewhere that can't support his care. To be upfront about his health history: as a kitten he had FIP and fully recovered, finishing treatment and the full monitoring period afterward with no issues since. He also has hip dysplasia, he runs, jumps, and plays like any other cat right now, but he may need treatment for it down the line, so this is worth knowing for anyone planning his long-term care. He has a sensitive stomach and does well on wet hydrolyzed food. We also suspect he may be deaf, but it hasn't slowed him down, he's picked up hand signals for sitting and moving and gets around just fine. He is also great hunter. He's microchipped and comes with his passport and full purebred certification and documents. We also have all of his supplies - two stainless steel litter boxes, a cat tree, toys, and beds - and we're happy to include these and are open to negotiating the cost if needed. We're hoping to find someone experienced with cats, or ideally someone with a pet health background, who's comfortable keeping up with his care and can give him a settled, loving home for the long run.
