About Rusty

Adoption Fee: $125.00
Rottweiler / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Rusty is a 3-year-old, neutered male with a heart as big as his goofy grin! This lovable boy is the perfect combination of playful, affectionate, and endlessly social. If you're looking for a dog who will happily join you on adventures, make friends everywhere he goes, and keep you smiling every day, Rusty is ready to fill that role. Rusty absolutely loves people and thrives on attention. During his temperament evaluation, he happily accepted all-over handling, remaining relaxed and comfortable while being examined from head to tail. He soaks up affection and is happiest when he's surrounded by people who love him. One thing you'll quickly learn about Rusty is that he is VERY food motivated! Treats are the way to this handsome boy's heart, making him an excellent candidate for continued training and learning new tricks. Whether it's practicing basic obedience or teaching fun new skills, Rusty is eager to work when snacks are involved. When it's time to play, Rusty's goofy personality really shines. He absolutely loves toys and gets adorably excited during play sessions. Although he'd rather keep the fun going than give up his toy, he showed no signs of guarding and willingly allowed staff to take toys from him without issue. His food manners were equally impressive-staff were able to place hands in his food bowl and remove it while he was eating without any signs of food aggression. Rusty remained relaxed, trusting, and cooperative throughout. Rusty is a true social butterfly with other dogs. He had an adorable interaction with a female Rottweiler, happily engaging in friendly play. He also met a playful male dog who repeatedly pawed at Rusty's face, convinced he'd found his new wrestling buddy. After patiently taking it all in, Rusty finally joined the fun, resulting in one of the sweetest play sessions imaginable. He would thrive in a home with another playful canine companion or with a family committed to giving him regular opportunities to socialize with other dogs. When introduced to our office cat, Rusty was curious but respectful. He initially spent quite a bit of time watching her before redirecting his attention and walking away with a little whine. During a second introduction, he calmly approached, sniffed her, and even began wagging his tail. While he showed no outward aggression toward the cat, we recommend continued supervision, slow introductions, and ongoing training if he joins a home with feline friends. Because of his size and curiosity, he'd likely do best with a confident, dog-savvy cat that won't be intimidated by his playful nature. Rusty is simply a big-hearted goober who wants nothing more than a family to love him for exactly who he is. He deserves a forever home that will embrace his silly personality, encourage his playful spirit, and let him continue making friends wherever he goes. If you're searching for a loyal companion with an infectious zest for life, a love for toys, and enough affection to last a lifetime, Rusty may be the perfect addition to your family. https://www.oconeecountyga.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Services-12/Adoption-Application-65
