About Koda

Koda is a 4-year-old, 56-pound, neutered Husky mix with a heart as big as his smile. He came to us as an owner surrender due to a change in his family's circumstances, and he's ready to find a forever home where he can continue being the incredibly loving companion he's always been. If you're looking for a true best friend, Koda checks every box. He's an affectionate 'Velcro dog' who simply wants to be wherever his people are. Whether you're relaxing on the couch, working around the house, or heading outside, Koda is happiest right by your side. His gentle, patient personality shines through in everything he does. Koda previously lived with twin 2-year-old children and proved himself to be exceptionally tolerant and gentle. According to his former owner, the toddlers could crawl all over him, hug him, tug on him, lay across him, and even put their hands in his mouth while he was eating without any signs of discomfort or concern. During his shelter temperament evaluation, he remained calm, relaxed, and accepting through all-over handling, further confirming the wonderful temperament his family described. He's also a social butterfly with other dogs! His previous owner frequently took him to dog parks where he happily played with dogs of every size. He even lived with another dog that routinely guarded toys, food, and other resources, often taking things directly away from Koda. Rather than reacting, Koda would simply walk away, showing just how submissive and easygoing he truly is. Koda has also successfully lived with cats. While he was comfortable sharing a home with them, he does enjoy chasing them when they run, so slow introductions and cat-savvy felines are recommended. Outside, his prey drive kicks in with squirrels, and because of this, he cannot be placed in a home with chickens or other poultry. This handsome boy is wonderfully house-trained and crate-trained, making the transition into his new home much easier. One thing you'll quickly discover is that Koda absolutely LOVES food! He is extremely food motivated, which makes him an excellent candidate for continued training and learning new tricks. With tasty treats involved, Koda is eager to work and please. Koda is the definition of a gentle soul-kind, patient, affectionate, and always ready to share his love with everyone he meets.
