About Milo

Milo is a 3-year-old French Bulldog, and we need to be completely honest: in the shelter, Milo is extremely difficult. He guards his food, reacts poorly to restraint, and strongly resists necessary care such as vaccines, medicated baths, and being dried afterward. His behavior here has been serious enough that staff must use significant caution when handling him. This is very different from the history provided by his previous family. Milo lived with children, cats, and dogs, and the only behavioral concern they reported was that he did not like baths. It is possible that shelter stress is causing his behavior to escalate-but we cannot guarantee that he will return to his previous behavior once adopted. Because of what we are currently seeing, Milo must be placed in an adult-only home with no other animals. His adopter needs to understand that this decision is based on safety, regardless of his previous living history. Milo also has severe allergies requiring ongoing medication, medicated baths, veterinary care, and a long-term financial commitment. He is currently receiving Apoquel for allergies and Cefpodoxime for a skin infection. Milo is not appropriate for a first-time dog owner or someone choosing him simply because they want a French Bulldog. He needs an experienced, realistic adopter prepared to safely manage the dog we see today-not rely on the hope that his behavior will immediately improve outside the shelter.
