About Kaya

Hi, my name is Kaya. I'm an 8-9-year-old Husky looking for a family that understands my breed and can give me the type of home where I'll thrive. I've spent most of my life on a securely fenced half-acre property where I enjoy exploring, keeping watch over my surroundings, and soaking up the outdoors. I love having room to run, roll around in the grass, and investigate everything happening around me. If you have a fenced yard, acreage, or even a small farm, I'd be happiest with space to enjoy being outside. Even though I'm considered a senior, I still have plenty of energy and a playful personality. I love treats, dog bones, toys, and just about anything I can chew on. Like a typical Husky, I'm very vocal. I 'talk' throughout the day, sing along with sirens, and occasionally let out a howl just because it feels right. You'll never have to guess when I'm excited for dinner or ready to play-I'll happily tell you. I'm very affectionate with my family and enjoy spending time with my people. I form strong bonds with those I trust and have a naturally protective personality. I like knowing what's going on around my home and take my job of watching over my family seriously. I get along well with children, but I would do best as the only pet in the home. I have a strong prey drive and enjoy chasing squirrels, rabbits, and other small animals that wander into the yard, so a home without cats or other dogs would be the best fit for me. Because I've spent most of my life exploring my own yard instead of going on neighborhood walks, I'm still learning to walk confidently on a leash. I'm already comfortable wearing a harness and prefer it over a traditional collar. With patience and consistency, I know I'll continue to improve. I'm healthy, spayed, and up to date on my vaccinations. I have no known medical conditions or special dietary needs. On July 16, 2026, I received a 90-day flea and tick preventative, so I'm protected through mid-October 2026. The Home I'm Looking For I would do best with someone who: Has experience with Huskies or other active working breeds. Has a securely fenced yard, acreage, or a farm where I can safely enjoy the outdoors. Can provide structure, regular exercise, and continued leash training. Wants me to be their only furry family member. Understands that I've always preferred spending much of my time outside while still being an important part of the family.
