About Shuko

Shuko is a 10yr old domestic shorthair tabby who has been a cherished member of my family. Unfortunately, over the years I've developed a cat allergy that has progressively worsened despite trying to manage it. My symptoms have become severe enough that I'm no longer able to provide him with the care he deserves, so my priority is finding him a loving home where he can continue to thrive. Shuko is an indoor only cat who is neutered, healthy, and has no known medical issues or special needs. Shuko is a gentle boy, but he's also naturally an anxious cat. New people, unfamiliar environments, and big changes can be overwhelming for him, so he takes his time learning to feel safe. When meeting someone for the first time, he'll usually retreat to a quiet hiding spot and observe from a distance before deciding to come out. He isn't the type of cat who immediately greets strangers, but that's simply his way of adjusting. Once Shuko trusts you, he's incredibly affectionate. He loves to cuddle and has a playful side. He's also independent and enjoys long naps in cozy spaces, you'll often find him tucked under blankets, beneath furniture, or curled up in a quiet little hideaway. During periods of significant stress or major life changes, he has occasionally had accidents outside the litter box. This is anxiety related rather than a regular habit, as it has only happened when he's been especially stressed. Because of his personality, I think Shuko would do best with someone who understands that trust isn't instant. He needs patience, consistency, and the chance to settle in at his own pace. Once he feels safe, his sweet and loving personality truly shines, and he's a wonderful companion. More than anything, I want to find someone who will love Shuko for who he is and give him the secure, caring home he deserves.
