About Luka

Meet Luka! Luka is a beautiful four and a half year-old Shepherd/Pyrenees mix with a gentle heart, an easygoing nature, and a love for adventure. At home, Luka is calm, mellow, and wonderfully easy to live with. He's happy to relax while you're working or spending time around the house. He isn't a velcro dog or a big cuddler, but he loves being near his people in his own quiet, loyal way. He gets genuinely excited when visitors arrive, loves meeting new people, and does wonderfully with other dogs. He enjoys dog daycare and has always been a social, friendly companion. Being outdoors is Luka's favorite thing in the world. He loves long walks, hiking, and exploring nature. Like many shepherds, he has a strong prey drive toward wildlife and uses a remote collar during outdoor adventures. He would do best with an active owner who understands working breeds and can continue that management. Because of his prey drive, a home without cats or other small animals would be the best fit. Making the decision to find Luka a new home is heartbreaking. I am living with Long COVID, and despite doing everything I can-including hiring a dog walker and working on training-I can no longer give him the active life he deserves. This decision is entirely about my health, not Luka. He is a wonderful dog who deserves someone who can fully enjoy all the adventures he loves. Luka is healthy, intelligent, affectionate in his own independent way, and ready to become someone's loyal companion. If you are looking for a wonderful hiking partner and a calm, loving dog at home, Luka may be the perfect match. The right home matters far more to me than finding one quickly.
