About Fernando

Fernando is a stunning 4-year-old boy (born spring 2022) with a one-of-a-kind sable coat that shimmers in shades of black and rich brown. With his striking looks, mysterious presence, and powerful stance, he has an almost supernatural appearance. If there were ever a cat destined to star in a Halloween movie, it would be Fernando! His unusual meow, captivating gaze, and hints of Maine Coon features only add to his unforgettable charm. Fernando's journey to rescue began in an apartment complex cat colony after the longtime feeder had to move away. Volunteers stepped in to care for the colony and quickly noticed how friendly he was. Concerned about his heavily matted long coat and the summer heat, they brought him to our rescue. He required significant grooming and had many painful mats removed by the veterinarian, so his beautiful fur is still growing back. Now safely indoors, Fernando is learning that he no longer has to fend for himself. He enjoys watching birds from the window, chasing toys, and showing off his playful side. He's an intelligent, confident cat who loves having things on his own terms. Fernando is looking for an experienced cat owner who appreciates strong personalities. He would do best as the only cat, as he prefers to be the king of his castle and can be too rough or dominant with other cats. Because he can become overstimulated and may nip during play or petting, he isn't a good fit for homes with children. His experience with dogs is unknown but we don't think it would be a good pairing. For the right person, Fernando will be an incredible companion, a bold, fascinating cat with a heart that's still learning what it means to be safe and loved.
