https://www.instagram.com/reel/Da0SvnePWOa/ today, 7/18, FELIX has been alerted and deadlined for euthanasia. Scheduled Euthanasia Date: 8AM, 07/23/2026. s٠'%BC%8F Adopt, foster, or rescue FELIX to save him! He endured 10 months at South LA only to die there! FELIX came to the SLA shelter as a stray one-year-old puppy in Sept 2025. He was microchipped but no one claimed him. When FELIX first started in playgroup, he was characterized as a 'gentle dainty' player, easily overwhelmed. But very quickly FELIX elevated his status to a 'social' dog and is a playgroup rockstar at South LA. He is a young, energetic dog with a rough & rowdy play style and, sadly, ten months of kennel living has begun to take a toll on him. A few weeks ago, FELIX began leash climbing and jumping up when exiting his kennel for playgroup. (Note: Biting or climbing the leash is often a displacement behavior to vent nervous energy or frustration, not uncommon when shelter dogs experience high levels of arousal and kennel stress). There is no question that playgroup is the highlight of any day for FELIX. It's virtually the only time he gets to leave his shelter cage. Notably, after playgroup, FELIX always walks back nicely & calmly to his kennel. On outings from the shelter, this handsome brindle is a wonderful companion. This week, I took FELIX on another day trip where he proved to be a happy and social adventure buddy. He was friendly meeting people, well mannered seeing other dogs, and completely unfazed by cars, bicycles, scooters, strollers, wheelchairs, joggers, and running kids. FELIX loves to show his knowledge of basic commands (sit, down, paw) and he enjoys working for treats. He is a smart and active boy looking for an equally smart and active owner. No puppy should grow up in a shelter and this good boy would thrive in a loving home with a responsible owner. He's waited far too long, don't you think? Please help him. Adopt, foster, share FELIX.
