About Karma

For family reasons, a friend had to leave the country and could not take her 10-year-old female German Shepherd. Several of her friends have been housing the dog so it would not end up in a city shelter. Nevertheless, the dog has been moved around three times in the last month and a half. Presently, the dog is in Queens, New York, with a third friend who cannot continue to house the dog in her small apartment. Therefore, we are seeking help finding a stable home for the dog. We do not want to take it to a shelter where the dog will not adjust well and might be euthanized because of its age. The dog, named Karma, is a sweet, 100-pound, healthy dog with all her vaccinations. Kara is a good dog who seldom barks but can be overprotective of whoever is caring for her at the moment. She will fare well in a household where she is the only dominate dog; however, she gets along well with small dogs and cats. ( Her best friend was a cat for many years.) Karma will make a great campanion for someone who knows how to handle big dogs. She follows instructions very well, nevertheless walking a 100lbs dog takes skill and strenght. She sometimes act like a puppy, who loves to play and loves her toys. Still, when given instructions to sit, laydown and go to your bed, she will obey. At times, she loves to snuggle and sneaks to the foot of your bed to sleep. Karma grew up alone in an apartment for many years and has had very little interaction with other big dogs. So, she is use to being the dominate pet in the household. Her only campanion and best friend for many years has been a cat. However, she did get along with a neighbor's small Maltese dog...but she barks at big dogs. Because of her size and weight, we don't believe having small children around her is a good idea. Karma has never been in a crate...she has always lived inside a New York City apartment. Still, if someone has a nice backyard where she can get fresh air and run as she please, it will make her happy.
