Captain D's log Sunday June 14th Meet Tippy ��ժ I never thought I'd be writing this post, but life has a way of changing the plan. Tippy is my 6-year-old female Siberian Husky, and she needs a forever home with someone who can give her what she deserves. As many of you know, my life has taken me to living aboard my yacht full time. Tippy has been my loyal companion through everything - a house fire, years on the road, so many chapters of my life. But a yacht is simply not a fair environment for a larger dog who was born to run. She deserves open space, grass under her paws, and room to be fully herself. Giving her that is the most loving thing I can do for her, even though it isn't easy. We named her Tippy because her ears are tipped in distinctive black markings - and she has the most stunning bright blue eyes you've ever seen on a dog. She is one of a kind. She is genuinely one of the sweetest dogs I have ever had. She loves everyone - people, other dogs, strangers, kids. She will climb right into your lap during a movie and stay there all night. She doesn't bark. True to her breed she 'talks' a little, but she is a remarkably quiet and calm dog. She is extraordinary with babies and small children. No matter what they do - pulling, hugging, crawling right up to her - she just sits there calmly and licks them with pure gentleness. But honestly, her heart showed itself from the very beginning. When my son was young and we went to choose a puppy from the litter, I didn't pick Tippy. She picked us. She walked right over and climbed into my son's lap and that was that. That's exactly who she is - she finds the person who needs her most and she just loves them. Her whole life she has been around larger dogs, smaller dogs, horses, and other animals - and she has never had a single issue with any of them. She is playful and gentle with other dogs and completely at ease around animals of all kinds. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, and house trained. She grew up with her own dedicated dog room and free access to 4 acres of fenced yard - so she's clean, calm, and well adjusted. At 6 she is in absolute prime condition, agile and healthy, with easily 6 to 8 good years ahead of her. She is also an amazing car dog. She'll ride right next to you, stick her head out the convertible top, and smile the whole way. She lives for an adventure. One thing to keep in mind is that Tippy is a true Siberian at heart - and Siberians are runners. It's not mischief, it's just who they are. A yard with a good fence would make her world complete and keep her safe while she does what she loves. I'm not just looking for any home - I'm hoping someone I know and trust will open their heart to her, because I'd love to be able to come visit her someday. She deserves to be someone's everything.
