Those of you that rescue/adopt these Shepherds in need instead of paying a Breeder, YOU are the REAL TRUE HEROES. Thank you so much. Case opened on: July 17, 2026. URGENT!!! Lebanon, Ohio (willing to drive up to 100 miles). 6 Y/O MALE Working Line AKC Registered GSD (DOB: 8/28/2020). His name is 'Klaus.' Background: Current Shepherd Parent has had Klaus since he was weaned from a breeder. UTD on shots WITH record. Fixed. Good with kids. Klaus currently lives with a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old. However, he needs a home with children ages 8+ only who are old enough to understand and respect his boundaries. Good with dogs he knows. Klaus does very well with familiar dogs but is Reactive and not friendly toward unfamiliar dogs. NOT Good with cats. He has a high prey drive. House trained. Crate trained. Any known medical issues?: Klaus has Seasonal Allergies thst causes sensitive skin and is maintained on Apoquel and Zyrtec. Three years ago, he experienced bloat (GDV) and underwent gastropexy (his stomach was stapled). He has made a full recovery and is doing very well. Abuse/Neglect/Trauma History?: None Disclosed. ENERGY LEVEL: High. PREY DRIVE LEVEL: High. Weighs 80 lbs. Currently on Kirkland Lamb Formula food. Good with car rides?: Yes. Socialized with: People?: Yes. Dogs?: No. Good with meeting new people? (ALWAYS USE PROPER INTRODUCTION!): Yes. Loves: Playing fetch, attention, working for treats, walks, car rides, cuddling, sleeping in bed with his person, balls, and simply being close to his family. Important Toy Safety: Klaus will chew apart and swallow rope toys and any toy he is able to ingest. He should always be supervised with toys, and safe chew bones or a Kong stuffed with peanut butter are his best options. Intelligent and knows Basic Commands?: This breed is super intelligent. Good Recall? (ALWAYS RETRAIN BEFORE ALLOWING OFF LEASH): No. Klaus does not have reliable recall and should never be trusted off leash without continued training. Good on a Leash?: Yes. Lovable?: This breed is super lovable once they claim you as their person/family. Eager and fast learner?: This breed is super fast learners when they are being committed to and worked with. Bite History?: None disclosed. NOTES FROM CURRENT SHEPHERD PARENT: 'If you are familiar with the breed and love what you get with a GSD, then you'll fall in love with Klaus. He will follow you around the house with every step, whine over the smallest inconvenience, barks at squirrels, fetches frisby like a boss, is a belly rub opportunist, and will protect your home better than any security system could. He is a great family pet as long as there are no toddlers and all children in the home can respect his boundaries.' Re Homing because'|: Resource Guarding Behaviors. Klaus also will eat anything that smells remotely like food. He has eaten many kitchen towels and broken into the diaper pail and eaten dirty diapers. Each time resulted in days of diarrhea or a vet visit. The CSP is too busy with work life, a toddler, and new baby, and has realized she just can't provide a safe environment for Klaus, or give him the supervision he needs. Will thrive best'|: In a loving home with a yard for exercise and fetch, and a family who is able to be mindful about not leaving anything out that Klaus could eat by mistake and get hurt. He would be fine with other large dogs once he gets to know them (he has been raised with an older GSD, and has made friendly acquaintances with a few other large dogs), but NO cats, small dogs, or any other animals. He should go to a home where there are only older children, NO babies or toddlers. Additional Notes: Klaus has Resource Guarding tendencies and can become Reactive when seeing dogs through fences. A privacy fence is strongly preferred to help reduce visual triggers and set him up for success. Comes with: Collar, leash, food, toys, and medications. Rehoming Fee: $175.
