About Lenny

Lenny is a 5-year-old Bluetick Coonhound with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He is handsome, affectionate, goofy, and deeply loyal to the people he loves. He has been a very loved family dog, and this decision is only being made because his family recently welcomed a new baby and no longer feels they can safely manage the risk of having an infant in the home with Lenny's known anxiety and resource-guarding history. Lenny has a classic hound personality - loving, curious, silly, loyal, and full of charm. He enjoys attention, affection, cozy time at home, walks, sniffing around outside, and spending time with his family. He has a moderate-to-low energy level and is perfectly happy spending much of the day snoozing and relaxing. One or two walks a day are usually plenty to keep him content. Lenny does best with a consistent routine, clear boundaries, and a calm environment where he feels safe and comfortable. He is house-trained, has worked with a professional trainer, and has received regular veterinary care. His family has also consulted with their veterinarian about his anxiety, and he has been treated with Prozac under veterinary guidance. Lenny struggles with anxiety and resource-guarding behaviors, especially around possessions or stressful situations. He has had one serious bite incident involving a family member, so he will need an experienced adopter who understands that his triggers must be managed carefully and responsibly. Lenny would thrive in a calm, adult-only home with a patient, confident, experienced dog owner who understands anxiety, boundaries, and resource guarding. A home with no children, a steady routine, and a yard or quiet outdoor space would be a great fit. While Lenny has known triggers that need to be respected, he is loving, sweet, cuddly, and loyal the vast majority of the time. With the right person and environment, he has so much love and companionship to offer. Rehoming Lenny is an incredibly difficult decision, and we are not taking it lightly. Our priority is finding the safest, most appropriate long-term home for him-not simply finding the quickest placement. All potential adopters will be screened thoroughly, and we will ask questions about experience, household members, other pets, living arrangements, and veterinary history to ensure the right fit.
