About Mei

Meet Mei 4 years old �'ۢ Female �'ۢ Spayed �'ۢ Red Shiba Inu Mei is one of the gentlest Shibas you'll ever meet. She doesn't bark much, she has never bitten anyone in our care, and she simply wants a quiet place where she can finally feel safe. Mei was spayed on July 14 and is recovering beautifully. She is officially available for adoption. When Mei first arrived, she flinched at every touch. With patience, routine, and gentle handling, she has made wonderful progress. She now enjoys affection from the people she trusts and continues to gain confidence every week. She will be very timid when meeting new people, but we believe she will continue to blossom in a home where she receives consistent love and attention. Mei is a larger Shiba and could benefit from losing a few pounds through regular walks and a healthy diet. Living with Mei Mei gets along well with other dogs and has done well with our cats. She does resource guard food and high-value items such as stuffed Kongs, chews, and special treats, so these should simply be given separately from other pets. This has been easy to manage in our home. The Home She's Looking For Mei would thrive in a calm, patient home that understands shy dogs. Because loud noises and constant activity frighten her, we do not believe a home with young children would be fair to her. She would likely spend much of her time hiding instead of learning to relax and enjoy life. Like nearly every Shiba, Mei is also a flight risk and will require careful management around doors, gates, and while outdoors.
