After spending nearly a year primarily confined to a kennel, he was rescued in a severely emaciated condition. Despite the neglect he endured, Phoenix never lost his ability to trust or love people. Since his rescue, he has been receiving veterinary care, proper nutrition, and the love he always deserved-and he has blossomed into an amazing companion. Phoenix is a gentle, affectionate, and intelligent young Pit Bull with a heart as big as his smile. He is fully house-trained, rides wonderfully in the car, walks politely on a leash, and learns new commands quickly. He already knows sit, stay, wait, come, space, take it, and gentle, and he is always eager to please. One of Phoenix's greatest qualities is his love for people. He is wonderful with adults and children of all ages and simply wants to be close to his family. Whether he's going for a walk, playing ball or tug-of-war, helping you around the house, or curling up nearby while you relax, Phoenix is happiest when he's with his people. His calm, loving temperament also makes him an excellent candidate for someone seeking an emotional support companion. Phoenix gets along well with other dogs with proper introductions and enjoys having a canine friend. However, because of his history of living confined around cats, he has developed a strong prey drive and is looking for a home without cats. Phoenix has overcome so much, and now all he needs is a family to love him as unconditionally as he will love them.
