Almond was still a baby herself when she found herself pregnant, facing an uncertain future in an overcrowded shelter where her life was at risk. When we learned about this precious girl who desperately needed a safe haven, we knew we had to step in. Just days away from giving birth, Almond was welcomed into a loving foster home where she received the medical care, comfort, and safety she so desperately needed. Her journey into motherhood was far from easy, especially for a dog who was still growing up herself. Now that her puppies have grown and her chapter as a mama is behind her, it's finally Almond's turn to be someone's baby. When Almond first came into our care, she loved everyone she met, including people, children, and other dogs. But going through so much at such a young age has left her with some insecurities and fears, and she needs a little help finding her confidence again. Almond is looking for a patient, understanding family who can give her the time, reassurance, and unconditional love she needs to feel safe. A home where her people are around for much of the day would be ideal, with children over 13 who can respect her boundaries and help her feel comfortable. She may enjoy having a canine companion again, too, with a well-balanced, well-trained dog who can gently show her the ropes.
