Vermilion, Ohio (willing to drive up to 2 hours). 4.5 Y/O MALE SHEPHERD/MALINOIS (DOB: 9/15/21). His name is 'Neo.' Background: Current Shepherd Parent has had Neo since he was 6 months old after rescuing him. NOT UTD on shots WITH record. Fixed. NOT Good with kids. Neo is not aggressive toward children, but they make him extremely anxious. He currently lives with a 9-month-old baby and displays whale eyes, lip smacking, and other stress signals around children. Good with dogs that he knows, but Reactive toward unfamiliar dogs. Currently lives with a 5-year-old female Shepherd/Malinois. NOT Good with cats. House trained. Crate trained. He does not need to be crated but will go into his crate with the door left open when he is feeling anxious. Any known medical issues?: Anxiety and seasonal allergies. Neo takes Prozac 40 mg daily (approximately $22 per month for Anxiety. We feel once Neo is in a home with no children that he will be able to properly be taken off this medication). Abuse/Neglect/Trauma History?: Before being rescued at 6 months old, Neo was found as a stray, severely malnourished, and was very skittish around men. He has worked through those fears and is no longer fearful of men. ENERGY LEVEL: Medium. PREY DRIVE LEVEL: High. Weighs 65 lbs. Currently on Purina One True Instinct food. Good with car rides?: Yes. Socialized with: *People?: Yes. *Dogs?: Yes. Good with meeting new people? (ALWAYS USE PROPER INTRODUCTION!): Yes. Loves: Chilling on the couch, outside time, chasing squirrels, rolling in the grass, head scratches, naps, rope toys, bath time, being towel dried, cuddling, walks, sleeping in bed with his person, being near his person, shredding stuffed animals (the stuffing must be removed immediately so he doesn't eat it), meat-flavored treats, and carrots. He does not like peanut butter. *Intelligent and knows Basic Commands?: This breed is super intelligent. *Good Recall? (ALWAYS RETRAIN BEFORE ALLOWING OFF LEASH): Yes. *Good on a Leash?: Yes. *Lovable?: This breed is super lovable once they claim you as their person/family. *Eager and fast learner?: This breed is super fast learners when they are being committed to and worked with. Bite History?: None disclosed. NOTES FROM CURRENT SHEPHERD PARENT: 'Neo is an anxious boy, but full of love for whoever is willing to take it. He would snuggle on the couch all day if you let him. He's pretty laid back and doesn't like to overexert himself. Very much a couch or outside potato. He will lay his head on your chest and nap for an hour. He just hasn't handled change well and we want him to be in a place where he doesn't have to be anxious. He's just a clumsy goofy boy who is really a good dog.' Re Homing because�'�|: Neo's anxiety has become significantly worse now that the Current Shepherd Parent's baby is mobile, louder, and more active throughout the home. While Neo has never shown aggression toward children, he is clearly uncomfortable and constantly stressed.
