We pulled Ciao Ciao (formerly Alexander) from a high-kill Inland Empire Shelter on 7/3, along with his mom Bella (formerly known as Garnet) as he had run out extensions by yesterday, had no foster, adoption, or rescue interest. Ciao Ciao had been pulling at my heart strings when I saw his post from networkers. To reinforce that they are hopefully fostered or adopted as a bonded pair we named them Ciao Bella. My wife didn't want either dog, but the angel that she is, she agreed to both (we already have dogs and live in a small'ish place in the city). I felt compelled to pull him right before closing on Fri July 3 after driving two hours out there and couldn't leave his mom behind. We can only keep them until 7/19. On their first day with us, they just relaxed/chilled in the backyard all day, playful, trotting around. Ciao is gorgeous and adorable, a pleasure to be around, loving, gorgeous, very sweet, calm, and pleasant disposition. Both dogs are affectionate without being needy. Very happy to cuddle up with you, also to play. They run around a little and play in our small yard. No bad comments while at the shelter for 70+ days (separated) and none from me. In other words, very low maintenance, which is why I love older dogs. Housebroken for about 8 - 10 hours inside, should get along with other dogs (they did in the shelter for their 71 days there), and it would be easier for everyone - the dogs and the foster or adopter - if they stay together. Ciao Ciao has a beautiful healthy thick soft coat, but a little course. He weighs 60 pounds and will be neutered on 7/13. Neither dog shows any food aggression toward each other or to me, very likely not to anyone. Both seem like they were beloved, family dogs and are pretty much 'plug and play' and ready to go home. Very sweet and gentle personalities. They also seem to understand Spanish. They are very easy - and a real joy - to have around the home.
