EMERGENCY, 1 yr FRIENDLY FEMALE CHOW/JINDO LOOKING X NOW FACING EUTHANASIA AFTER BEING MADE 'RESCUE ONLY' FOR A VERY TREATABLE MEDICAL CONDITION- MUST EXIT ASAP, FOSTER and RESCUE NEEDED TO SAVE THIS ADORABLE and FRIENDLY YOUNG LADY WHO CAME IN WITH A BFF AND SIMILAR LOOKING DOG! Fosters and rescue needed for BOTH dogs, either separately or together as saving one is better than none. DEVORE, CA, So Cal - SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY ANIMAL CARE - ID #A846523 'SQUASHY' a beautiful 1 year old, female petite chow jindo looking mix, found with a friend or sibling 'PUMPKINSPICE' (ID #A846524, listed as a chow x) she is kenneled with. Please note most rescues need a foster or foster to adopt home to save. PLEASE CONTACT ROBIN WITH ANY QUESTIONS, AS SHARED POSTS & COMMENTS MAY NOT BE SEEN OR ANSWERED. Help! This dear girl was found as a stray, along with a similar looking friend who may be her sibling. The two dogs are now kenneled together, get along, and we were sent nice video of them. The shelter fondly named them Squashy and Pumpkinspice and estimates they are only 1 year old. Pumpkinspice, the fluffier one, weighs 45 lbs and Squashy weighs 42 lbs and is a bit smaller overall, and is less fluffy. While Pumpkinpsice is listed as a chow mix, the shelter says ' Squashy A846523 is listed as an Akita mix but is definitely looking like a Chow as well. Squashy has black spots on his tongue and Pumpkin spice has more of a full black tongue.' A breed change has therefore been requested and we she may be a chow jindo or other spitz mix, as well as her sibling. Sadly, the two girls have just tested positive for Anaplasma*, a normally very treatable condition with antibiotics which they are now on as of 7/9. 21 days of doxy has been recommended. The shelter told us 'They were both tested because they were going to be going on a flight with a partnered rescue, but since they tested positive for anaplasma they will not be able to go on the flight.' So these sweet dogs HAD a rescue and transport, but now they don't. And even worse, due to medical, they are now no longer available to adopt - and are now facing euthanasia and can only be pulled by a partnered Rescue group. We are therefore desperately looking for a foster, foster to adopt and a rescue (please note rescue groups NEED fosters) to save each dog in time. They cannot be currently adopted directly through the shelter unless they change their Rescue only status. As of now, this must go through a rescue group who is the only ones who can pull either dog out. Therefore, a foster or foster to adopt is likely needed as most rescues need a place for a dog to go. *Anaplasmosis in dogs is a tick-borne bacterial infection transmitted primarily by the black-legged tick (deer tick). It causes symptoms like fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, joint pain, and limping. It is highly treatable with prescription antibiotics like doxycycline, and the prognosis is generally excellent when caught early. Ideally, we would love for them to stay together, but we realize not everyone can always take in two more dogs, so any offers for either of them separately are also encouraged (since saving one si better than none, and we then may be able to find a second foster too, easier). Since rescue groups likely need a foster to save, if you are interested in fostering, please contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist the shelter with their placement, and we can try to pair you with a rescue to help. For rescue group inquiries, please contact the shelter asap at (909) 386-9820 and provide the applicable ID9s) and also email: [email protected] We will also be posting updates, additional pictures and videos on facebook for Squashy at: https://www.facebook.com/debbie.alder.14/posts/10169285719223125 Pumpkinspice's facebook post is: https://www.facebook.com/debbie.alder.14/posts/10169285569113125 Squashy's listing link is: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/SBCO1/A846523 Pumpkinspice's listing link is: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/SBCO1/A846524
