Mabel is a 5-year-old German Shepherd who spent the first years of her life in a puppy mill - a world that never gave her the love she deserved. Now she's ready to show you just how resilient and sweet a rescued soul can be. She has blossomed into a calm, affectionate companion who is just as happy snuggling on the couch as she is chasing a ball in the yard. She tends to be a bit timid at first, but once she warms up to you, she is the sweetest, most loving girl - a true cuddle bug who thrives on close companionship and soaks up every bit of affection she receives. Fetch is her love language - she'll bring the ball back every single time. Give her a good chew toy and she's in her happy place, and if you mention a car ride, she's already at the door. She's also been known to have strong feelings about pup cups, so a Starbucks run will make you her favorite person instantly. She does well with people once she's comfortable, and can do okay with cats once she's had time to warm up, making her a good fit for a variety of households. She is not a good match for homes with children, and she would do best as the only dog in the home. With a low to medium energy level, she's no whirlwind - she's happy with a good walk and some quality time with her people. She walks beautifully on leash, is fully housebroken, and is crate trained. She already knows 'sit' and 'lay down,' and with her food and toy motivation paired with a genuine desire to please, she'll be a joy to continue training.
