Peanut is a spayed female looking for a home where she can finally relax and be someone's loyal companion. This is an incredibly difficult decision, but I want to find her a home that can give her the time, attention, and affection she deserves. Peanut is house-trained, well-mannered indoors, and has excellent off-leash recall. She loves hiking and being outdoors, though swimming isn't really her thing. Around the house, she's calm, quiet, and happiest lounging nearby once she feels comfortable. She can be slow to warm up to new people and unfamiliar dogs and tends to be an anxious dog at first. She needs someone who is patient and willing to let her build trust at her own pace. Once she feels safe, she is one of the sweetest dogs you'll meet-a true gentle giant who loves kisses, cuddles, and simply being close to her people. With other dogs, Peanut has done well in the right situations. She currently lives peacefully with two of our dogs and is very tolerant of their antics. She even shares a kennel with another female dog without any issues. She generally avoids conflict and doesn't seek out fights, but she will stand up for herself if another dog repeatedly invades her space or attacks her. Throughout her life, she has had to defend herself during several dog fights, all involving the same dog that was consistently the aggressor. Because of this history, I think she would do best with a calm, respectful dog or as an only dog, and any introductions to new dogs should be done thoughtfully. She generally ignores children, though I have typically kept her separate from my young kids. She has never shown much interest in them and prefers a quiet environment. Peanut deserves a home where she can receive the patience, affection, and one-on-one attention that I can no longer provide. She is a wonderfully calm, loving dog with a huge heart, and I truly believe she will thrive with someone who understands that earning her trust is worth the wait. I'm happy to answer any questions and be completely honest about her history so she can find the right home.
