About Milky

Great Pyrenees mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Our Great Pyrenees Milky is a female dog, born on May 16th 2023, and was brought to our home in July of 2023. She weighs 60lbs now. Her vaccination is up to date, and she's negative to heart warm disease, and free of tick sourced diseases based on health check report from the veterinarian this past June. We have her vaccination and medical records ready to send to her foster or forever home. She's been a very gentle sweet friend to kids and she's friendly to other dogs as well. Since she's a guardian dog, she is quite alerted generally. She will react in barks to approaching loud vehicles, and to some undetectable or minor noise to human. She's been having kibbles now as her daily food so the nutrition she gets is more stable and balanced. Milky's not allergic to most dog friendly food sources, such as brown rice, chicken, pork, turkey, beef, salmon, carrots, pumpkin, green peas, apples, blueberries, plain yogurt, etc. She does have seasonal skin allergy which we've been receiving help from our veterinarian. She's very gentle when getting snacks from human hands. I do suggest not to take the snacks given to her away from her, cause she is protective towards food given to her, which based on my research is kind of common to most dogs. Handlers do need to be more focused when leash walking her out doors, cause being a 3 year old Great Pyrenees, she's very energetic and curious. She loves sniffing the nature and will be interested in moving wild lives like rabbits, birds, squirrels and sometimes even a passing by car or a bicycle. So it would be the best to have her impulse control trained. If that's not available within a short time, at least she'd need an experienced handler to be able to leash walk her. Though she's underweighted, 60lbs, compared to her peers according to the last health check, handler still needs strong enough physical figure and technique to keep her under control. She's afraid of thunder storms and fireworks. It would be ideal if the owner's experienced of that, if not at least he/she will lovingly and patiently accompany her when she's panicked. She's also got separation anxiety. Me and my husband need to work during the day. That leaves Milky home for more than 3 hours often. Expecting hot weather soon from mid July on, we hope to rehome her to a new loving home, so she gets a chance to have a happier life in a home that is able to take a better care of her.
