Red (temporary name) is a sweet male Redbone Coonhound (or Redbone mix) who showed up on a farm in Petersburg, TN about 10 months ago. Despite attempts to locate an owner, no one has ever come forward to claim him. He is very friendly and has never shown aggression toward people. He gets along well with other dogs and cats and loves attention. He appears to be shy at first but quickly warms up. Unfortunately, the farm is not the right environment for him. He has a tendency to roam, and because he has escaped fenced areas in the past and there are nearby coyote traps, he has had to be kept on a tie-out for his safety. He deserves a home where he can safely run and be part of a family. He has not yet been neutered or seen by a veterinarian. When he first arrived, he was extremely thin, and despite being fed regularly, he has struggled to gain weight. He needs a complete veterinary examination to evaluate his overall health, check for intestinal parasites or other medical issues, and receive routine veterinary care. Flies have also been bothering his skin while he is outdoors. We are looking for a rescue or experienced adopter who can provide the medical care, patience, and loving home he deserves. My boyfriend's dad is willing to continue caring for him until the right placement is found.
