About Havik

Adoption Fee: $50
Alaskan Malamute / Siberian Husky
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

(Adoption fee can be negotiated!) This is Havik. He is an Alaskan Malamute/Husky mix. He's 13 years young and will be 14 in October! He's around 100lbs more or less, though, nothing but a big teddy bear. We happily adopted Havik from another family in Washington when he was 4 years old and he's been with us ever since. Unfortunately, we're moving somewhere where he cannot come with us due to medical reasons. It saddens us to have to re-home him, but we want what is best for our handsome old man. That being said, he is amazing with all sorts of animals. That includes the smaller cute critters beyond cats and dogs. He is also really great with kids. Currently living with a growing 1 year old boy. He's very gentle and sweet. Though, even with his older age he does still like to play and carries that typical Husky attitude because he'll forever be young at heart. Especially when seeing others dogs. He will talk his heart out if he can. (Warning, he gets very loud in his talking!) %BD' His medical conditions: - He has a couple of rotten back teeth, but that doesn't stop him from eating or drinking like normal. Just something to know and be aware of. It mostly just gives him bad breath. We tend to give him more chewy, softer foods to not aggravate them any. - He has a torn ligament in his back right leg. He got it when he accidentally tripped into one of the holes he dug in the yard. (Yes, he is a digger when he gets bored outside.) It does pain him and makes it difficult for him to come to a stand, but it only takes him a moment and once he is standing he is fine to move about like normal. Though, he does carry a limp as one would assume. %BD' What we're looking for in a home: - Preferably a backyard, doesn't have to be anything crazy big, just enough for him to go outside and stretch his legs. Especially his bad one. - He HAS to be an inside dog. He cannot be chained outside with nothing but a doghouse to give him shade. It's too hot and he'll overheat quickly. Also, absolutely NO DOG CRATES! He is house trained and does not chew anything. A very well behaved boy inside. He's too big to be put into a crate and often needs to be able to walk around when his leg begins to hurt. - Walking isn't required, but he does love going on walks. He cannot go very far because of his leg, but he will try nonetheless. He's a good sport about it and will start to slow down when he's really hurting and cannot go much further. (Typically when I will turn back to go home.) - Most of all, someone who will love and spoil him in his remaining years. He adores attention and cuddles whenever he can get them. He deserves the very best!
