Candy is an adorable 6-month-old, 12-pound puppy with a personality that's just as sweet as her name. While we can't say for certain what her breed is, we think she may be a Schnauzer, Silky Terrier, and Yorkshire Terrier mix. With her scruffy little face, expressive eyes, and lovable personality, she's guaranteed to steal your heart from the moment you meet her. Candy's story is one of resilience and second chances. She was found abandoned and alone until a kind-hearted woman stepped in and rescued her. As fate would have it, this wonderful woman had previously helped one of our rescue pups, and when she found Candy, she knew she couldn't leave her behind. We'll never understand why someone would dump such an affectionate little dog, but we're incredibly grateful she was given the opportunity to start over. When Candy first came into our care, her coat was extremely matted and uncomfortable, so we had to shave her down completely. As her beautiful coat grows back, her future family should be prepared for regular grooming and routine coat maintenance to keep her healthy, comfortable, and looking her best. At just 12 pounds, Candy is the perfect size to accompany you on all of life's adventures. She is the biggest lovebug and wants nothing more than to be close to her people. Whether she's snuggled up on the couch, following you around the house, or playing with her favorite toys, Candy is happiest when she's spending time with the people she loves. She has the playful energy of a typical young puppy balanced with an incredibly affectionate, cuddly personality. Like any puppy her age, Candy is still learning and will need continued potty training and basic manners. She's a smart little girl who simply needs a committed family willing to invest the time, patience, and consistency that every young puppy deserves. If you're looking for a fun, loyal best friend and are ready for the joys of puppyhood, Candy is the perfect match. Candy has received all of her age-appropriate veterinary care, including vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, heartworm and Lyme testing, and a full veterinary examination. She has not yet been spayed, but her spay surgery will be completed through ROOT Rescue. Families interested in adopting Candy before her surgery are welcome to do so, with the understanding that they will bring her back to one of our partner veterinarians for her scheduled spay, which is covered by the rescue. Candy is looking for either a committed adopter ready to give her a forever home or a family interested in our foster-to-adopt program while she completes her remaining veterinary care. If you think Candy could be the perfect addition to your family, we'd love to hear from you! For more information, please email us at [email protected] or visit www.rootrescue.org.
