About Carrot

Adoption Fee: $200
Maine Coon / Domestic Cat
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Carrot is a very social kitty, who somehow manages to always be in the same room as his humans. He's curious, playful, and affectionate. He purrs at the slightest touch, and loves to be petted and brushed. He likes meeting new humans, and rightfully assumes that everyone will want to pet him. Carrot is very playful, and has a lot of energy. He is also a champion sleeper who manages to look smug even while he's asleep. He is very good at training his humans: he has taught me to brush him when he asks, to run a bit of water in the bathtub so he can lick it up, and to bring him a handful of grass when I get back from a walk. He communicates clearly about what he wants, and is grateful when he gets it. He also loves making biscuits on soft blankets, and while he does it he purrs so loudly you can hear him from the next room. Carrot likes to be near his human or other cats. He is generally curious about what his human is doing. He loves catnip and silvervine. He likes carrying stuffed toys - it's always fun to wake up in the morning and see where all the toys have moved overnight. He also likes chasing string. Carrot needs to be in a home with other cats. He would dearly love it if he could continue to live with Pip and Squeak, the two domestic shorthair cats he has lived with for the past 5 years. If he can't be with them, he definitely needs a home with other cats. He has lived with dogs in the past, and would be happy to have a quiet dog as a companion. He has not lived with children, but would get along just fine with older children. He likes to perch in high places, and he likes watching birds and other wildlife out the windows. He is immunocompromised, so he has to stay indoors, but he has had access to enclosed outdoor spaces in the past and would really love to have that again. Carrot has small cell lymphoma, which is a very mild form of cancer. He is on daily medication for it. The medication is not expensive, and he is very cooperative about taking his pills. He has no side effects, and as long as he is on his medication, he is very healthy and is expected to live a long life.
