About Louie

Meet Louis, our lovable 7-year-old beagle mix. This has been a very difficult decision for our family because Louis is a truly sweet dog-we simply aren't the right home for him anymore. Louis weighs about 25 pounds, is neutered, house-trained, and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He has a gentle, affectionate personality and is wonderful with children. He loves being around people and enjoys being part of the family. The only reason we are looking for a new home is that we keep backyard chickens, and Louis has developed a habit of eating their eggs. Because of his strong beagle instincts and excellent nose, he would do best in a home without chickens or other poultry. Like many beagles, Louis also enjoys following interesting scents and has been known to find ways out of a fenced yard if left unattended. He'll do best with an owner who understands hounds and will supervise him outdoors, keep him on a leash for walks, or ensure he has a secure place to play. Louis is heartworm-positive. Our veterinarian has evaluated him and advised us that treatment carries significant risks in his particular case, so he has been managed medically. He remains a happy, active dog, and we will gladly share his veterinary records and discuss his care with serious adopters.
