About Flower

Adoption Fee: $ 200
Catahoula / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

...(far right sitting black dog)is a 3 yr. Old Catahoula/Lab mix (no dna test ) that was within 24hrs of a home visit for euthanasia. I found him online via Rescue Me highlighting his 'status' of needing 'emergency' removal from the family he'd spent his young life with thus far. The family included 2 young teens and had moved recently cross country to north of Seattle. Flower and his brother survived stress of the move to a couple of acres where he became 'leader' of the family as well as his litter mate. The family was thrilled to have some room where the dogs could run. They chose to install an electric ground fence. They began to develop neighbor relationships and it was on 2 separate occasions where though the neighbor was requested NOT to come onto the property without the families 'heads up', he did and received nip behavior. This is a nominal 'tale' that omits much as I wasn't 'there'. From my experience working with dogs surviving the human condition, sadly typical. A warning was issued to the family from the 'trespasser' that they needed to eliminate one of their dogs. A euthanasia was scheduled the week they placed Flower in an ad I receive 'red line' alerts for. With this back story, I present Flower who came in estranged, nippy for sake of DEFENCE and habitually making his own decisions...after all, as far as he could tell, the message from his 'pack' was clear they needed HIS guardianship. Forward 8-13mos; Flower has made the best of a VERY DIFFERENT living situation at my small farm. He went from being guardian of a family and his brother to student, learning how to chase varmints in close proximity safely with other dogs that fairly loose their minds. His previous interaction with other dogs had been occasional; one on one and for short periods of time. There are 7 other 'euthanasia ' candidates he is requested to 'get on' with. As well, free range chickens, and sheep he's learned how to interact with peacefully. He's been introduced to my adult outside cat without drama. He DOES need a fenced yard as his nose leads him. He CAN be off leash with recall once his new family or individual establishes respect. Tweaking his TRAINING A MUST! As an 'unfunded' (not 501c3 recognized) rescue, I ask for a volunteered donation. This happy, healthy, lowkey dog is in THURSTON COUNTY WA. I remain available to assist with any training assistance in person or virtually at no charge. I am seeking a loving family or single willing to MAKE time to KNOW him. As a young athletic dog with 'hunter' in his DNA he needs some exercise and stimulation but can be left at home alone '|crated or not. He does have recall and this will always need consistency. He's a chill master, very affectionate with a sense of self play as well a 'player' . Smart, gentle, funny and kind. He LOVES; car rides sleeping on couches cuddling using his nose ( may be a nose work candidate) playing with his pink squeekie playing chase around the tree w another dog balanced raw food diet or 'killed' kibble
