About Turk

Meet Turk: Your Oversized Cuddle Buddy Turk is the definition of a gentle giant. His favorite place in the world is curled up on the couch with his people, soaking up belly rubs, pets, and all the love you can give. While he may be a big boy, he's an even bigger sweetheart who thrives on companionship and being part of the family. When it's time for a walk, Turk can't contain his excitement! Just pick up his leash and watch him break into a happy dance. He enjoys short walks, a game of fetch, and playing with his favorite stuffed toys-the fluffier, the better. After a little exercise, he's perfectly content to spend the rest of the day relaxing beside you on the couch, often snuggled under a blanket. Turk is especially devoted to his people and absolutely adores children. One of his foster family's favorite things is watching him curl up next to them or the kids after school. He's a laid-back companion with occasional bursts of playful zoomies, where he'll proudly grab a toy, race around for a minute, then bring it back to the couch to happily chew. Turk is house-trained, crate-trained, and travels well in the car. He settles nicely in his crate, though he may bark briefly at bedtime before relaxing. He would much rather be out with his family than alone and would love a home where he can sleep in the same room as his humans. Like many dogs, Turk has a few quirks. Thunderstorms and other loud noises make him very anxious, and he appreciates extra comfort and reassurance during storms. He can also pull on walks when something interesting catches his attention. Turk does have some important management needs. He shows resource guarding around food and should always be fed separately from other animals. He also has a strong prey drive and loves to investigate squirrels, rabbits, and other small creatures. Because of his resource guarding and a recent incident involving a small dog during an exciting greeting at the door, Turk would do best as the only pet in the home. He is not a good fit for homes with cats or other small animals. Larger dogs intimidate Turk. What Turk does love without reservation is people. He is affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he's by your side. His ideal family will enjoy leisurely walks, games of fetch, and evenings spent relaxing together. In return, Turk will reward you with endless cuddles, unwavering companionship, and the kind of unconditional love only a dog like him can give.
