We tried really hard for a year, but when Jasper started to get aggressive with our cat and the behavior continued to escalate, we had to make the really heartbreaking decision to send him to a new home. We've tried to make it work because we love him deeply, but it wasn't fair to our cat or to Jasper to have to keep them separate all of the time. Jasper deserves a loving family or single owner without cats that has more time for him than we currently do. He is currently with a foster but she cannot keep him and needs him out of her home by Sunday. Jasper is an almost 2 year old Black lab mix, about 35 pounds. He is very smart and trainable. He spends most of the day relaxed on the couch or curled up next to wherever you are. He loves walks but is still a little difficult on the leash due to being overly excited and his reactivity to other dogs. He absolutely loves playing fetch and running around outside. His Rover sitters and his current foster have described him as 'the perfect cuddle buddy.' While we've never had issues with Jasper around our kids, he is full of energy and doesn't know how strong he is, so he'd probably do best with older kids or only adults. He would be great in a family with playful dogs his size, or with an active owner who has no other pets so he can have all of the love and attention he needs. We suspect that Jasper wasn't treated well before we found him, so he is a bit anxious but does well in a calm, predictable environment. He is not always good with unknown male visitors and has recently gotten aggressive towards one (not sure if he was triggered by something in his past of being protective). He would thrive as the only pet or in a home without cats. He does well with natural remedies like CBD oil and anti-anxiety meds like Trazodone, as well as a bit of patience. He sleeps well in his crate at night, but definitely loves to snuggle until it is lights out. He is a big snuggler and loves attention. Jasper was originally found wandering around in our neighborhood. Over the past year, he has made a lot of progress and knows basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down. He is neutered, up to date on all vaccines and his micro-chip will be transferred. We can send him with anxiety meds, CBD, his crate, toys, and anything else he may need.
