Sharik is a 2.5yo Australian Cattle mix who is looking for a forever home. He was adopted from the Humane Society of Huron Valley Shelter in Ann Arbor as a puppy rescue. He has lived and thrived in his family of 5, which included 3 older children 17, 16, 11yo. He has been an anxious dog, reactive to strangers, small children and other dogs but able to be worked with and redirected. He does have a best friend dog with whom he plays well but no other dogs in the house. He is an excellent guard dog and listens well to commands. He is a very fast learner and overall a very smart dog. He has grown up to be a very loyal, loving and devoted family member. He is a typical ACD breed, intelligent, independent thinker, who follows one leader in a completely devoted way, right at the owner's heels. He needs further work with reactivity and has been on daily medications to help his anxiety. He will thrive in a household with no small children (too strong of herder tendencies), lots of work that he can be occupied with or participate in (ex. farm) and attention of one adult leader who can continue to teach him new things. He knows many commands which he follows easily. He did break the skin of a family member in a resource guarding incident when he stole a piece of yummy steak off the table and was guarding his treasure on his mat. We are very sad to have to rehome this amazing and devoted pet and hope to find him an amazing new home. He currently lives in Ann Arbor with his family. He is up to date on all of his immunizations and vet recommended screenings. If interested to hear more about Sharik, please contact Agnes at (734) 239-3061.
