This is something we have struggled with for a long time and are making with a very heavy heart. Odin is our 6-year-old Bluetick Hound and he is looking for a new home. He is a high-energy dog with a very strong hound nose and would do best with someone who has time, space, and ideally some land where he can run, sniff, and thrive. Odin is wonderful with our family and our two small children. He is affectionate, loyal, playful, and once he knows you, he settles in and is calm and loving. We want to be fully transparent so we can find him the right fit. Odin does have a hard time with strangers and people coming into the house. He gets excited to greet people and may bark and jump initially. Once he gets familiar with someone, he relaxes and does well. There has been one incident we want to disclose: Odin got out and approached someone wearing headphones. The person startled and Odin reacted by nipping their hand. There have been no other aggression incidents. We believe the situation was fear/startle related, but we want to be honest about his history. Odin does well with other dogs - we have a 20 lb pug and they coexist well together. His experience with cats is unknown. We have tried for a long time to make this work, but with two small children and the time and attention Odin needs, we know he would do better in a home that can give him more of what he deserves. We are not looking for just any home - we are looking for the right home. Someone experienced with hounds or active dogs who understands that Odin needs exercise, consistency, and patient introductions to new people. Please message me if you think you may be a good fit or share with someone who might be. We love him very much and want the best possible next chapter for him.
