Lukie is an 8-year-old neutered purebred Anatolian Shepherd with the heart of a family companion and the quiet confidence of his breed. He is approximately 130 pounds, healthy, house-trained, heartworm negative, and has excellent indoor manners. He has always lived as an indoor member of the family and genuinely prefers being close to his people. This is an incredibly difficult decision. Due to my father's rapidly declining health, I am moving into a much smaller apartment so I can help care for him. Unfortunately, I can no longer provide Lukie with the home and lifestyle he deserves. This decision is entirely about my circumstances-not Lukie. Lukie is affectionate, loyal, intelligent, and calm. He is happiest lounging near his family, quietly watching over the home, going for walks, or simply being included in daily life. He is not a high-energy dog and does not require constant activity. Think 'Clifford meets Scooby-Doo'-a gentle giant with a goofy side. Like a typical Anatolian Shepherd, Lukie has natural guardian instincts. He is protective of his home and family and does best with an owner who understands livestock guardian breeds and respects their independent, thoughtful nature. Once he knows someone is welcome, he is friendly and enjoys meeting people. He loves children and has lived successfully with both dogs and cats, though thoughtful introductions are always recommended. Lukie would thrive in a home with people who appreciate guardian breeds and want a devoted companion rather than a highly driven working dog.
