Please help us find a good home or foster and rescue for this lovely older female chow who is about 10 years young and perfectly sized at only 48 lbs. Fondly named Ellie by the shelter, she was found as a stray and brought to the shelter, but her owner never came, sadly. Ellie has been waiting since May for a home she so deserves. Per her shelter bio, 'Ellie is a sweet, sensitive soul who will need to take her time building trust with new people. She will warm up and show her affectionate side, but will like her space from time to time. She would do best as the only dog in the household and in a home with no children 10 years old or younger. As a senior pup, she has a few medical conditions that we would like to discuss with potential adopters to ensure the best fit. Once she feels at home with you, Ellie is a happy, affectionate companion who will bring lots of love to her forever family.'The shelter also let us know, 'She would flinch throughout intake exam but enjoyed scratches on her back. She can be tense or avoidant when handlers clip or unclip the leash. Walks slowly on leash with no reactivity noted. We treated her for an ear infection, and she has some arthritis along her spine, so she's on pain medication. She is currently available for adoption at our Escondido campus and has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is only $165.
