HELP!!! X URGENT- Riverside County Shelter, San Jacinto location, So Cal - ID #A1921843 'PETE'- A SWEET GOLDEN RETRIEVER/CHOW/SHEPHERD LOOKING MIX. AT GREAT RISK IN HIGH KILL SHELTER since. AVAILABLE TO ADOPT, BUT SHELTER IS OVERFULL and EUTHANIZING ADOPTABLE DOGS AND GIVES LITTLE TIME. WE ARE THEREFORE ALSO DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR A FOSTER AND RESCUE TO SAVE HIS LIFE. RESCUES NEED FOSTERS TO HELP! Dear Pete was found as a stray, and no one ever reclaimed this handsome hunk. Pete is said to be 5 years young and weighs 73 lbs. He has been listed as a chow mix even though his tongue is pink, but he looks far more golden retriever or even some shepherd in him. We are courtesy posting him so he does not continue to be overlooked, listed as a chow mix. We have nice video showing him loving to be pet. Shelter notes state: '06/15/2026 STAFF SHELTER: 06/15/26 11:31 Upon approach, dog was towards front of kennel soliciting attention from handler. No kennel mate at time of observation.; 06/17/2026 PLAYGROUP SHELTER: 06/17/26 08:24 Dog participated in playgroup today. Dog appeared tense during greetings, providing appropriate warnings as needed. Dog primarily kept to himself. Dog did not engage in play. He has no negative notes at this time.' Pete has been at this shelter since 6/11 and is expected to become very urgent in this very full shelter. Unfortunately, because the shelter is so full, though, he may have little time to be adopted or rescued before he is add to the euthanasia list without warning. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting sweet Pete, please contact the shelter immediately by calling (951) 358-7387 and reference his applicable ID and also use his listing link to express interest. Here is his listing link: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/RVSD3/A1921843 If you are interested just to foster, or foster to adopt, or if you need further help, please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network asap as we are trying to find fosters we can then refer to a rescue group to save him in time. There is also a chance he could be fostered through the shelter if you are local, or we could pair you with a rescue group to assist with this as a foster if you are further away (but not too far from a willing rescue). If you are a rescue group and interested in pulling this handsome guy, please email the shelter right away at: [email protected] and call (951) 358-7302.
